RACE LEAGUE - BOURNEMOUTH
I went to do the Race League at TeamSport Bournemouth and it was really interesting and fun! After qualifying, they put us into teams of 3, and the teams were based on where we qualified. Then all the points from the team decide who wins, which I thought was a really cool idea.
In qualifying, I kept swapping between 1st and 2nd place with Zach, which was exciting. But right at the end, Josh did an amazing lap out of nowhere and took P1. That meant I ended up starting P3. I was a bit disappointed, but starting 3rd can actually be good if you get a strong start.
In the race, I got a great start and managed to get up to P2 by corner 2! I was really happy with that. But it didn’t last long because I went a bit wide on the last corner and left the door open, so I lost the place again.
The biggest problem was when my own teammate spun me out on a corner and I crashed into the wall. That sent me all the way to last place and probably cost our team the win. The race even had to be red flagged because I hurt my leg and knee quite badly (and I’ve got the marks to prove it!).
Even though I was hurt, I carried on racing and managed to get a few places back, which helped our team finish P2 in the end.
I really liked the team format because it was different and exciting, but next time we definitely need to work better together as a team! 🏁
SCK - WINTER CHAMPIONSHIP ROUND 3
| took part in my first SKC Championship today and it was a wild ride! From struggling with a slow kart in Practice and Qualifying to making a thrilling comeback in the A Final, I learned so much and had an absolute blast.
Despite drawing the sluggish Kart 86, I managed to scrape into the Pre A final and even climbed to 4th! In the A Final, I faced a nightmare start after dropping P4 to P8 with a kart that didnt want to move and I could just wave everyone past me on the start line, but I refused to give up. I fought my way back to 5th and even attempted a daring move on the last couple of corners to snatch 3rd.
Not a bad Sunday morning but could of been slightly better if the cards had fell my way!
RACE LEAGUE - EASTLEIGH
Well it didnt really go according to plan but got P2 in Qualifying. Missed by a whisker on P1 which I knew getting past the cadet in front would be hard as he is quick and a good defender. True to form he defended on every corner, I think he had a slow kart as it was more than normal. I saw a gap which I went for but he closed the gap as I got there and I got the lead but probably was only 40% along side. No Marshall gave a penalty straight away but I heard that the cadet was waving his had and pointing at Marshalls and pointing at me and then they brought me in a couple of laps later. Deserved it but all hand gestures should be a DQ. Lessons learned to be more patient though and the time will come!
CLUB 1OO - Cadet Junior SLW WHILTON MILL
Round 1 at Club100 South at Whilton Mill was my first round, and it looked like the weather was finally going to be sunny all day, which was nice!
We started with a practice session and the track was still cold, but I was putting in some good lap times and feeling quite confident. Going into qualifying, I thought I had a good chance of making the A Final, which would have been a massive achievement for my first round.
But qualifying didn’t go the way I hoped. I kept getting stuck in traffic and battling with other karts. At one point a cadet behind me spun me around while I was on a really good lap, and when I rejoined the track I ended up back in more traffic.
There was also another cadet who I kept catching during qualifying. He was battling and slowing things down, so I backed off a few times to try and get a clear lap. But every time I caught him before the line. When I tried to overtake twice, he pushed into the side of me which cost me time. I eventually got past him, but by then it was too late to set a better lap.
The funny thing is that he was actually someone I had lent my spare helmet to earlier because he forgot his! He said sorry afterwards and said he didn’t realise it was me trying to pass. But I still don’t understand why you would fight so much in qualifying!
I was a bit upset at the time, but it’s all part of learning.
In the Pre B Final, I found my speed again and made some really good overtakes. I moved up from P17 to P9, which I was really happy with.
That meant I started the B Final in P9, and I finished P4, with lap times similar to some of the drivers in the A Final.
Overall, I’m really happy with how the day went and I learnt a lot. Hopefully in Round 2 in the North I can use what I learnt and get myself into the A Final! 🏁
RACE LEAGUE - EASTLEIGH
This race was quite a fun one! I didn’t beat my best lap time, but I was driving two karts that I had never used before, so I wasn’t really sure how fast they would be. Also, those karts hadn’t been in the top 10 all year, so I didn’t know what to expect.
When I got there, TeamSport said they had done a big reset on all the karts to try and make them all the same speed. Maybe it worked, because I managed to do a 34.7 lap time in both karts, which felt really good!
It was enough to qualify P1, and then I won the race too! I had some fun overtaking four back markers, which made the race exciting.
In the end it was just really nice, friendly racing and lots of fun driving!
GRID SERIES - EASTLIEGH RD 2
Round 2 of the Grid Series was at TeamSport Southampton. It ended up being a bit of a mixed night, which happens a lot in rental karting.
In qualifying the kart I was given felt really underpowered, and halfway through the session it actually died. There weren’t any spare karts to swap into, so I lost the rest of my qualifying time. My best lap before the kart stopped put me P5 on the grid.
Starting 5th, I knew it would be tough to get past the drivers in front because overtaking here isn’t easy. After a few laps I managed to move up to 4th, and not long after that I got into 3rd.
Then I suddenly got shown the black flag, which I was really confused about. I honestly can’t remember the last time I had one. After the race they said the marshal upstairs thought I had put someone into the wall, but that definitely didn’t happen, so I’m not sure if they flagged the wrong kart. Either way, I had to do a pit lane drive-through which dropped me back to 6th. I managed to fight back to 4th by the end, which wasn’t ideal, but with the qualifying problem and the penalty it was probably the best I could do.
The second race was a reverse grid. I started 6th and this one went much better. I worked my way through the field and finished P1.
That should give me P2 overall for the night, which still keeps me top of the series. Now it’s on to Round 3 to see what happens next
GRID SERIES RD 2 BOURNEMOUTH
Tonight was Round 2 of the Grid Series. After winning last time, I was feeling confident.
But I had a bad kart and that made it tough. I qualified 5th, which I don’t think I’ve ever done at Bournemouth before. The cadets here are really quick though and the times are super close, so there’s nothing much in it.
In Race 1 I had work to do. Overtaking is really hard at this track, but I managed to move up one place to 4th.
Race 2 was a reverse grid. I got a good start and moved up three places into 2nd. Then a cadet spun. The rules say if you spin you stay where you are and carry on, but they decided to restart the race, so my start didn’t count.
On the restart the cadet in front of me spun again and I lost a couple of places. I worked my way back up to 3rd and was close to 2nd, but there wasn’t enough time to make a move.
The good part is I set another PB and the fastest lap of the night.
We didn’t get the final confirmed results because it was getting late and they were reviewing penalties. I think I finished 3rd, which keeps me top of the series. I feel like I could have finished 1st or 2nd if the spin rules had stayed the same, but that’s how it goes sometimes.
CLUB 100 - SILVERSTONE
Today was my debut in the Outdoor Karting Championship with Club 100, and it was such an exciting day!
I was really excited… but also a bit nervous. , the number of drivers, the level of competition — it felt massive. When I saw how many racers were there, I knew it was going to be tough.
My goal going into the day was realistic. I wanted to finish somewhere in the middle of the pack and aim for either the back of the A Final or the top of the B Final.
That’s exactly how it turned out.
I started P2 in the B Final. I was gutted not to make the A Final directly, but I still had a chance — if I finished in the top two of the B Final, I could still transfer through.
Unfortunately, I made a big mistake on the rolling start. The P1 cadet slowed down more than I expected, which caught me out, and I jumped the line. Maybe it was a clever tactic from him — and if it was, fair play! I’ll definitely learn from that one.
I received a two-place grid penalty, which meant my chance of making the A Final was gone. That was really hard to take.
I drove the rest of the race feeling frustrated, and when I came off track it was difficult to hide my emotions. But after speaking to my dad and Bradley from BSR, I understand that these are the moments that help you grow the most. It’s better to learn these lessons early.
This year is a learning year.
The cadets were all great on track, and the A Final was epic to watch. Well done to everyone — it was a brilliant day of racing!
I’ll come back stronger next round 💪🏁
RACE LEAGUE - EASTLIEGH
I went to TeamSport Southampton for Race League and it’s always such a fun track to race on.
With Club100 at Silverstone this Saturday, I really wanted to practise my overtaking. We did normal qualifying and I just missed out on P1 — well done Ethan. But the plan was always to start the race from the back. Thanks to the team for letting me do that.
I had a really good start and made up four places in the first two laps, getting up to 6th. Then over the next few laps I kept pushing and worked my way up to P2. I even managed to set the fastest lap.
Ethan had already flown off into the distance so there was no catching him this time, but I’m super happy finishing P2 after starting last. It was great practice and I’m feeling ready for Silverstone.
CLUB 1OO - Super Lightweight Academy 3 Buckmore Park
I had another great day of karting, this time with Club100 Racing at Buckmore Park Circuit.
It was my first time racing at this track and I really liked it. At the start it was a bit slippy and greasy because it had rained, so it was quite tricky. But as the track dried up, everyone started going faster and faster, which made it even more exciting.
I was in Group A with lots of really good drivers from last year, so I tried to learn as much as I could by watching how they drove and where they were quick. By the end of the day I finished 6th on lap times, which made me really happy and proud.
I had so much fun racing, seeing my friends, and making some new ones too. I can’t wait for the next one.
I had already passed the Academy Day a couple of weeks ago, so this event was a great chance to get some more outdoor track experience and keep improving.
DRS - Academy
Today was so much fun at Silverstone for the Daniel Ricciardo Series.
I had one heat in the dry, but then the rain came and it was wet for the rest of the day. It was really slippery and tricky, but I learned loads about driving in the rain and staying in control.
I was racing alongside some really talented cadets and I feel like I held my own out there. It was awesome competing with such fast drivers and pushing myself to get better every lap.
I can’t wait to come back and do it all again.
I’m also really happy to say I passed the Academy Day. That meant doing a driving assessment and a small exam about flags and racing rules — and I passed it.
RACE LEAGUE - EASTLIEGH
I love racing at TeamSport Southampton. It’s one of my favourite tracks. But this week… wow. It was probably one of my most frustrating races ever.
I actually had a really good start to the night. I qualified P1 with a 35.3. It’s not my fastest lap ever, but it was good enough to put me on pole, so I was feeling pretty confident heading into the final.
We had a rolling start and I was leading the pack. But straight away, I knew something wasn’t right. My kart just didn’t feel fast. It felt flat on the straights and I was having to push super hard just to stay ahead. I didn’t know my lap times during the race, but afterwards we found out my average was 37.5 — that’s over 2 seconds slower than my qualifying pace! Even slower than some of the karts that started at the back 😩
I started to realise something was wrong when the cadet behind me went around the outside of me on a corner. Around the OUTSIDE! That’s when I knew I was in trouble.
From that moment on, it was basically a full race of defence mode. Blocking, covering the inside, trying to stay calm and not make mistakes. I fought as hard as I could and managed to hang on to P3 for a podium.
I can’t complain too much because I’ve had loads of success at Southampton before… but I think it’s fair to say Kart 40 needs to be retired 😂
Still, a podium is a podium. And I’ll be back next week — ready to go again and hopefully with a faster kart! 🏎️🔥
RACE LEAGUE - EASTLIEGH
Always good to be back at Eastleigh for the Race League. After two full days of karting in the rain, it was a welcome change to have a roof over my head.
The format was qualifying followed by a rolling start race. Qualifying went really well once I managed to find some clean air, and everything clicked. I set my personal best and my fastest lap of the year, securing P1 and pole position for the race.
The race itself was great fun, with Ollie pushing me from start to finish. He managed to slip past when I left a small gap, but two laps later he made the same mistake and I was able to retake P1. From there it was all about keeping it clean and consistent, and I managed to hold on to the lead all the way to the chequered flag.
P1 at the finish and top step of the podium — a fantastic way to end the weekend.
CLUB 1OO - Super Lightweight Academy 1&2 Whilton Mill
I had an amazing time at Whilton Mill taking part in the Club 100 Academy days!
Day 1 was all about wet weather driving. The track was really slippery and lots of karts were spinning off — including me! I spun at the now Freeman Famous Turn 5, but I learned a lot about car control and staying calm in tricky conditions.
Day 2 started a bit difficult. The first two sessions didn’t go to plan for different reasons, but in the third session I finally found some space on track and managed to set my personal best lap time. In the fourth session, the rain came back, and I was really happy to improve my wet lap time too.
It was such a cool experience racing alongside other talented cadets and seeing some friends again from last year’s BIKC National Final. Everyone pushed each other to be better, and I learned so much over the two days.
I’m really proud to say that I passed the Academy Day and I can’t wait to compete in this year’s competition, both North and South.
A big thank you to Bradley Sheppard Racing for all the support and encouragement. I’m excited for the challenge ahead!
GRID SERIES - BOURNEMOUTH RD1
I was really nervous about this race if I’m honest. The competition here is mega, and with some other stuff going on it just made me feel a bit shaky before we started.
First up was a 15 minute qualifying session. At the start my kart was sliding everywhere, but once I got it under control I managed to set the fastest lap, which meant I started P1 for the race!
The race was going really well until the last 5 minutes. I think I started to panic a bit and I was leaving the door open too much. I lost the lead on a corner after some contact, but I didn’t know if it was going to be a penalty or not. It turned out the other driver got a 2 second penalty, which meant I actually would have won the race…
But then I made a big mistake. I was trying really hard to get first place back when a back marker (who had blue flags) gave me the inside line leading upto the corner, but the cadet in first was already around the corner and I hit him 😞 I’m really sorry about that. He was luckily okay, but I wasn’t so lucky.
After that, another cadet hit me from behind and I really hurt myself. My mum even came onto the track f to make sure I was okay… It was the last lap, so we all came in. I got a 3 second penalty, which gave the win to the driver ahead of me. He deserved it, and I know I need to be better.
The next race was a reverse grid, so I started second from last. I was nervous again because of what had just happened, and I was still quite sore.
But this race went much better, I made some good overtakes and climbed up to 4th place (I think!) and I also set the fastest lap of the night. The top four drivers all got the same points, which shows how close and good everyone is. Because I got the fastest lap, it put me into P1 overall!
I’ll take the win but could of being any of the top 4, but well done to everyone — it was a tough night and there were a few red flags, so I hope everyone is okay. 💪🏁
GRID SERIES - EASTLIEGH RD1
The first round of the Grid Series at Eastleigh gave me mixed feelings. Qualifying didn’t go very well because I got spun around and then black flagged when I tried to get going again unaided by a Marshall. That meant I lost a lot of time. When I finally went back out, another cadet got black flagged and stopped right in front of me, so I hit them and hurt my wrist and then more time lost!
I still managed to qualify P3, but the following first race was really hard. The kart I got wasn’t very fast and lots of people said it was a dud. I couldn’t keep P3, especially with Ethan being super quick, but I held on to P4 which I was proud of.
Race three was a reverse grid, so I started P6. This one was amazing! I worked my way up to P1 and won the race by 4 seconds 🏆 There was an incident behind me which helped give me some space, but it was still really fun racing.
There were lots of talented cadets there, including another BIKC finalist, Ellena. It’s her local track and she was on another level fast! Overall it was a fun night and I learned a lot. I can’t wait for round 2! 🏁
RACE LEAGUE - EASTLEIGH
Epic night at Race League!
Third time's the charm - after 3rd on my first visit and 2nd on the second, I took the win last night on my third visit to this track. Huge props to the cadets behind me, it was anyone's game! Qualified P1 for the race with a personal best time, but had to fight hard to keep my lead throughout the race.
RACE LEAGUE - EASTLIEGH
This was my second time racing at TeamSport Eastleigh (Southampton) in the Race League. The first time I went, I got pole position but finished the race in 3rd place.
This time there were more cadets racing, which was good, and I got to race against some new people. In qualifying I finished P3 again, with Ethan and Henry ahead of me. All three of us were really close, with less than 0.150 seconds between us, so I knew it would be a tight race.
Starting P3 felt good because I thought I would have the inside line into the first corner, but it was changed to a rolling start. The race was 15 minutes long and around lap 6 or 7 I overtook Henry. While we were fighting, Ethan pulled away a bit, but I still had time to catch him.
The kart felt good, so I pushed and started setting faster laps. I got the fastest lap of the night with a 35.741 and caught up to Ethan. He defended really well and didn’t make any mistakes.
There were a couple of red flags that took about 5 minutes out of the race and the clock didn’t stop. I think if we had that time back, I might have had more chances to try a move. I’m still happy to finish P2 on my second visit, and I’ll be aiming for P1 next time.
RACE LEAGUE - EASTLIEGH
My first Race League at @teamsportsouthampton was amazing! It was really cool meeting new cadets and seeing some I already knew.
I did the academy first to warm up, but it was on a slower speed, so when qualifying started on speed 4 I had to learn new lines super fast!
I was really happy (and a bit shocked!) to get P1, but I wasn’t complaining!
In the 20-minute race, I just couldn’t get the pace I needed. I held P1 for about 12 minutes, and I could see a big battle going on behind me which I hoped would help, but credit to Ollie and Robin, they knew exactly where to pass. Ollie got me on a corner, and on the last lap I made a mistake and dropped to P3.
I’m honestly so happy to get a podium on my first try!
Well done everyone. Hope to be back soon!
RACE LEAGUE - BOURNEMOUTH
It all begins with an idea. Maybe you want to launch a business. Maybe you want to turn a hobby into something more. Or maybe you have a creative project to share with the world. Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.
BIKC FINAL
Heading into the final I felt nervous but also excited. I’d raced in the Warrington Race Leagues before and even got P1 in Qualifying and P2 in the race against some really fast cadets, so I knew I could keep up with the best.
On the day of the final everyone was super quick, so I knew it was going to be tough.
In my first three heats I finished P5, P2 and P6, which didn’t give me the best starting spot for the semi-final. I started the semi in P5, and only the top 4 would go through. Overtaking was really hard without risking a penalty, and the kart I got was underpowered (I found out afterwards other people had complained about it too). I tried my best to defend and stay in P5, hoping someone ahead might get a penalty.
On the very last corner another cadet spun me, but it didn’t change anything because the top 4 finished in the same order and didn’t get any penalties.
Even though I didn’t make the final, it was amazing racing with such fast cadets. I learned loads, had a great time, and I’m hoping to come back next year and get on the podium
BIKC Regional Final
Cardiff is such a fun track, and it was awesome being there with my Bournemouth Race Academy Cadet teammates to race against four other academies.
In my heats I finished P1, P2 and P1, which put me on pole for the Semi Final. Me and my teammate Zach both took P1 in our semis, and as the day went on we really felt like we could both make it into the final.
We even made a plan: if we both finished P1 in our semis, whoever got the fastest lap would start P1 in the final. We agreed to hold our positions and work together to make sure we both got through. With our Academy coach Tara helping us, we stuck to the plan and sailed straight into the final.
Amazing day!
BIKC Local Final
After loads of laps around the Bournemouth track to qualify for the local final, I went into it feeling pretty confident because I had the fastest lap record. We qualified on a lower speed setting, but for the final they said it would be ramped up, which meant I had to learn new lines and change how I drove.
With some practice before the race I adapted well, but I was mostly P2 or P3, so I still felt good about it. On the day of the race I qualified P3, which I was happy with because it put me in a good spot.
At the start of the race I got a really good launch and beat P2 into the first corner, but I got squeezed into the wall (which we were told would be a black flag, but it never happened). That dropped me to P4, but luckily the top 5 still qualified.
I got stuck behind a really defensive driver, and it was actually a good learning moment for me. When the race finished I came off feeling pretty upset with how I drove, but the main thing is… I made it through to the regional final!
Let’s see how I do there :)
Massive Congrats to Zach, Archie, Trae and Archie D for qualifying and Team Bournemouth head to Cardiff :)
