Eastleigh was a different challenge because it’s not my local track and the cadets there are strong and could do this track with there eyes closed. I knew I needed a strong result to help my chances in the championship.
I qualified P1 again, but in race 1 I had a slower kart with a really quick driver behind me. I stayed calm, defended when I needed to, and brought it home in P1.
Starting at the back again for race 2, this time I had a much quicker kart and got up to P4 pretty fast. The driver in P3 defended really well and gave me no chance to pass. I knew P4 would still be enough for the overall win on the night, so I didn’t want to take too many risks with people right behind me.
Looking at the points, it should mean I win the series there too because of dropped rounds and fastest lap points — even if someone else wins the final round.
If that happens, winning a Grid Series championship at a track that isn’t my home track would mean a lot.
Now we wait and see 👀
