Club 100 South Round 2 – Shenninton 🏁

New track for me this weekend. I was looking forward to it, but it didn’t really go my way. Practice was on a slightly damp track and actually felt pretty good. I was happy with the pace early on.

Qualifying wasn’t great. I didn’t quite put a lap together and the kart didn’t feel right on the brakes, so I couldn’t drive like I normally do. Ended up starting mid-pack in the C final, which was disappointing after being top 10 in the A final last time. The margins were really small though and a lot of quick drivers were in there. Pre Final didn’t start well – I left a gap off the line and dropped a few places, down to around P10–P12. Had to work back through. Made a mistake going for P2, went in too fast and hit the tyres, but recovered and finished P6.

Started P4 for the C Final. We’d seen earlier races where P4 got squeezed into the tyres on 2nd corner, so that was in my head a bit. Didn’t get a great start again and dropped back to around P8. Fought back up and got close to P3, but got brake checked on a straight and lost out on the outside from kart behind us, so finished P4.

Not my best performance, but learned a lot and will take it into the next one.
