Tonight was Round 2 of the Grid Series. After winning last time, I was feeling confident.
But I had a bad kart and that made it tough. I qualified 5th, which I don’t think I’ve ever done at Bournemouth before. The cadets here are really quick though and the times are super close, so there’s nothing much in it.
In Race 1 I had work to do. Overtaking is really hard at this track, but I managed to move up one place to 4th.
Race 2 was a reverse grid. I got a good start and moved up three places into 2nd. Then a cadet spun. The rules say if you spin you stay where you are and carry on, but they decided to restart the race, so my start didn’t count.
On the restart the cadet in front of me spun again and I lost a couple of places. I worked my way back up to 3rd and was close to 2nd, but there wasn’t enough time to make a move.
The good part is I set another PB and the fastest lap of the night.
We didn’t get the final confirmed results because it was getting late and they were reviewing penalties. I think I finished 3rd, which keeps me top of the series. I feel like I could have finished 1st or 2nd if the spin rules had stayed the same, but that’s how it goes sometimes.
