Club 100 North | Round 3 | GYG 🏁

Really excited to race at GYG for Round 3 of Club 100

Practice went well in the morning and I set a best time of 55.4. After watching footage with @bradleysheppardracing we found a few small areas where I could improve.

Qualifying was decent and I finished P2, but just missed out on the A Final with a 54.8. Gutted to miss it by only a tenth.

In the Pre B Final my kart struggled a bit on the straights so I had to defend hard. I made a mistake covering too late and got a 4-place grid penalty (fair), which meant I lost my chance to make the A Final that way and started the B Final from P6 losing 4 places as result of the penalty.

Starting P6 on the outside wasn’t ideal because you can lose places into turn one, but I got a really good start and held position. I knew I needed a top 2 finish to reach the A Final.

By the end of lap 1 I was up to P4. Lap 2 I got P3, lap 3 I moved into P2, and by lap 4 I saw a chance for the lead and went for it.

It was awesome racing with Gillen at the front as he’s super quick and pushes you all the time. I led for a couple of laps but left a tiny gap on lap 6 and he got through. After that I focused on bringing it home in P2 to secure my place in the A Final, while setting my fastest lap of the weekend with a 54.6.

In the A Final I had nothing to lose and just wanted to race hard and see how far I could move forward from P22. I managed to gain 7 places and finish P15, which is my best result of the season so far.
