Daniel Ricciardo Series | Round 2 | Rye House 🏁

Another new track ticked off the list and I really enjoyed racing at Rye House, even if the day didn’t quite go how we hoped.

Because I’d never driven the track before, we signed up for the pre-test to get some extra laps in. Unfortunately one of the cadets had an incident and the session got stopped early, but the main thing is he (Harry) was ok and back racing in the main event. 💪

We still managed one practice session and the pace looked pretty good going off the times.

Qualifying went really well and I finished 4th quickest in my group, which I was super happy with.

That put me P4 for Heat 1, but being on the outside into the first couple of right handers meant I lost a place early on. I managed to fight one back, but coming onto the main straight I got spun from behind and then hit again while sideways. The race got red flagged while I was checked over.

I wanted to carry on racing, but because my knee was hurting I wasn’t allowed back out, which meant losing any chance of scoring points and starting last in the Pre B Final.

I was determined to recover as much as possible and managed to climb from P22 to P13 in the Pre B.. I feel I could have done more but the kart I had and track combined was so bouncy I was feeling really sick. That gave me P7 for the Main B Final.

The pace in that race was really strong with loads of fast cadets, but after some great clean racing and battles I worked my way up to P3. I think with a couple more laps P2 could have been possible, but the defending ahead was really good once I caught them.

Really happy to finish P3 after everything that happened and I feel like the pace was there for a top 10 in the A Final.
