DRS - Round 3 Shennington

Round 3 - Shennington @danielricciardoseries 🏁

🔹 Warm Up A

I was really happy with this session. Against one of the strongest groups I’ve raced in, packed with super quick and talented drivers, I finished 8th fastest with a 55.53s lap. That felt like a huge step forward and showed the progress I’ve made at this track as my first visit did not go well at all 🙈

🔹 Qualifying A

Unfortunately qualifying didn’t quite go to plan. I got caught up in too many battles and couldn’t find the clear space I needed to put a lap together. After the pace I’d shown in warm up, I was disappointed to qualify 11th with a 55.71s best lap, but it gave me plenty to chase in the races ahead.

🔥 Heat A

What a race! Starting 11th, I worked my way through the field with some ambitious overtakes, climbing all the way to 3rd place. Every move I planned came off, including a mega move around the outside at the hairpin to secure the 3rd spot. I also set a 55.18s best lap, just 0.04s away from the fastest lap of the race.

⚡ Pre-Final A

Another really strong drive. I quickly climbed into P2 and Harry Lonsdale and I managed to pull out around a 6-second gap to the rest of the field. A Full Course Yellow then wiped out all that hard work by bunching the pack back together. I lost P2 on the final lap, but a penalty for the driver ahead meant I kept 2nd place. Even better, I set the fastest lap of the race – 55.25s 💜

🏁 Grand Final

This was my best starting position yet, lining up P3 after the two groups were merged together. I made a fantastic start and quickly moved into P2, helping build a 2 second gap alongside Harry once again. Sadly another Full Course Yellow erased that advantage. After the restart I was on the receiving end of some contact which dropped me down the order, and from there I simply didn’t have the pace I’d enjoyed earlier in the day. The kart was around eight tenths slower than others ive had in previous races, making life really difficult on a track with so many long straights. I defended as hard as I could but eventually crossed the line in P11.
